Commercial SATCOM Systems Engineer
TriSept has an immediate opening for a full-time Commercial SATCOM Systems Engineer. This position is located in Hanover, MD but requires regular trips to Ft. Meade, MD to support our customer, the Defense Information System Agency (DISA).
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Provides customer service support to existing and prospective users of commercial satellite services from start to finish.
Assess customer requirements and develop documentation outlining requirements and recommending solutions.
Develops requirements documentation for the customer, participates in technical evaluation of proposed solutions to customer requirements, coordinates and communicates with existing and new customers throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
Assist mission partners with technical and architecture related questions.
Participate in technology assessments, market research and analysis to identify and recommend viable solutions to augment current DoD wideband and narrowband satellite systems. Support the Government in exploring leading edge technologies that provide secure and reliable network solutions.
Evaluate the impact of transition for COMSATCOM systems to any future technological advances adopted by the DoD, interoperability, and end-to-end performance, to ensure its support for the protocol.
Collect and analyze DoD COMSATCOM utilization data and provide technical analysis.
Provide recommendations and assist the Government in policy review, evaluation and development
Produce product and technology assessment reports
Prepare white papers, technical reports, briefings, studies, and records of proceedings (i.e., meeting minutes)
Travel within the Washington DC Metro area, to include Fort Meade Maryland, will be required.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Degrees in Engineering fields preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience with Commercial Satellite Communications. Experience with network planning and service implementation preferred.
Experience with various Military COMSATCOM systems and network architectures is preferred
Experience with iDirect, Linkway, UAV, and Viasat KuSS systems is preferred
Experience performing Satellite link budget engineering and analysis
Ability to multi-task with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with specific time constraints.
Ability to use individual quantitative analytical capabilities to solve problems and complete analysis.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook required.
Able to work with and appropriately protect classified and proprietary information.
Strong organization skills
Strong technical writing skills
As position requires extensive direct client contact, excellent attention to detail and communication skills are a must.
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and will be required to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
